2024 Dallas Cowboys Team Outlook
WR KaVontae Turpin, DAL - Low Potential
Turpin will mix in to four-wide sets and could conceivably beat out Jalen Tolbert for WR3 duties. He's also an elite returner and the league's new kick return rules will be a big factor in Turpin sticking around. If your league used return yardage, Turpin could be a real late-round value.
WR Brandin Cooks, BUF - Quality Backup
Cooks has settled in as a decent WR3/4 but after four-year declines in fantasy points per game, yards after catch per reception, and yards per route run, he may struggle to maintain that value. Even in an elite Dallas offense. Cooks is unlikely to score another eight touchdowns again in 2024, making him a boom-or-bust prospect. In the eight games that Cooks did not score a touchdown, he averaged an appalling 4.3 fantasy points. As an aging player, that makes Cooks a volatile fantasy option who should be viewed as simply a streaming depth add. ADVICE: Touchdown dependant ancillary weapon who is likely to be over-drafted because of last year's TD totals
TE Jake Ferguson, DAL - Solid/Safe Pick
Undrafted in a large percentage of fantasy drafts, Jake Ferguson became a waiver-wire hero who posted top-10 fantasy numbers for the league's top-scoring offense. Ferguson emerged as a viable weekly option who ran the third-most routes and led all NFL tight ends with 25 red-zone targets. Dallas didn't add much target completion in the draft or free agency, so Ferguson's role looks secure. He won't come with the discounted price tag in 2024, but Ferguson should remain heavily involved in the Cowboys' offense, giving him a safe floor as a fantasy TE1. ADVICE: Clear path to a ton of routes in an elite offense. Ferguson is a safe and reliable TE1
PK Brandon Aubrey, DAL - Stud (low risk)
Aubrey led all kickers in points and points per game last season. He kicked a league-high 36 field goals with only two misses. Blessed with accuracy and power, Aubrey will continue to shine in the NFL's top-scoring offense. He's a top-3 fantasy option in every league.
Dallas - Solid/Safe Pick
Dallas scored a league-high six DST touchdowns last season. Their aggressive young defense is loaded with playmakers who can get after the opposing passer and force a ton of turnovers. The Cowboys also added LB Eric Kendricks and second-round DE Marshawn Kneeland is a agreat fit in Mike Zimmer's scheme. All in all, one of the top defense/special teams to target on draft day. But not too early.
