Week 3: Player Upgrades
WR Denarius Moore, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Denarius Moore generated a ton of buzz in the Bay Area during the preseason, but ended up being buried on the depth chart and abandoned by fantasy owners (myself included) after he was a non-factor in Week 1. Injuries to Jacoby Ford (hamstring) and Louis Murphy (groin) forced Moore into the starting lineup and he responded with a monster performance in a Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Moore was on the receiving end of five passes for 146 yards, including the catch of the week (a 50-yard bomb late in the fourth quarter). The most encouraging stat for fantasy owners was that Moore led the team with eight targets in only his second game as a rookie. The Raiders' depth chart is not set in stone and the opportunity for Moore to establish himself as the team's number one option is there (especially if Ford and Murphy miss any more time). Moore is certainly worth a speculative pickup in all fantasy leagues going forward.
TE Dustin Keller, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Surprise, the AFC East tight end featured in this week's Player Upgrades isn't Aaron Hernandez. Dustin Keller has been on the rise for years with the New York Jets, but has yet to make the jump into the elite tight end conversation in fantasy football. Keller started last season on a tear and is on the same pace this season. In a Week 2 blowout victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Keller reeled in all six passes thrown his way for 101 yards and a touchdown. Keller is an integral piece of the Jets offense and appears to be quarterback Mark Sanchez's favorite target through the first two weeks of the season. Fantasy owners looking to replace an injured or ineffective tight end should target Keller either off of the wavier wire or in a trade.
