Week 3: Player Downgrades
WR James Jones, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Green Bay may have one of the most impressive offenses in the NFL, but even they can't support James Jones as a legit fantasy producer. Jones has two catches for 16 yards in his first two games of the year. The targets just aren't there, making him an afterthought in this offense. The Packers' incredible wealth of offensive playmakers creates a situation where in any given week, any one of their guys could have a big week. Naturally, the closer a player is to the top of the depth chart, the better their odds to reap the benefits. Jones is currently sitting as the team's WR4 and don't forget the team also has tight end Jermichael Finley (who functions as the team's No. 2 receiver). Jones should be sent straight to the waiver wire immediately. He may have one or two big games this year, but those will be sandwiched around games where he does absolutely nothing.
TE Zach Miller, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
This recommendation largely depends on which fantasy site you are using as a host. As an example, ESPN ranked Zach Miller as their No. 9 tight end. They were completely off-base with this projection. Miller is certainly a big, athletic target with reliable hands playing on a team with limited and oft-injured talent at the receiver position. The problem is Seattle is one of the worst offenses in the league so far. After a Week 1 loss to the 49ers, it was difficult to imagine them rebounding well against the Steelers at home. In fact, they were shutout by Pittsburgh. Miller has three receptions through two weeks and Seattle's offense isn't much better. They are ranked dead last in offense and that's a trend unlikely to see much of an improvement. There are a number of tight ends emerging this year from Baltimore's Ed Dickson, Washington's Fred Davis and Cincinnati's Jermaine Gresham to name a few. Grab one of them if they are available and cut your losses with Miller as soon as possible.
