Week 8: Bargain Hunter
WR Chris Givens, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
I have to give some credit to my collegue Ben Standig (you can follow him on Twitter: @BenStandig) for opening my eyes up to rookie Chris Givens, who is quitely becoming an impact wide receiver for the St. Louis Rams. While he had only three catches this past week, they went for 73 yards and the Wake Forest product has reeled in at least one 50-yard catch in each of the past four games for the Rams.
Givens will be the beneficiary of a tasty Week 8 matchup against the New England Patriots' atrocious secondary, which is ranked 29th against the pass, giving up over 290 yards per game through the air, and has surrendered the most plays of over 20 yards (39) in the NFL this season. This truly is a dream matchup for a big-play threat like Givens, who will cost his prospective salary cap owners a paltry $6.64 figure to acquire his services as a one-week matchup sleeper.
WR Josh Gordon, ---
FANTASY PROFILE / STATS & MORE
Josh "Flash" Gordon is a very talented, but raw receiver, that has stepped up and assumed the role of chief big-play threat in the Cleveland offense, developing into the vertical threat the Browns have lacked for years. After four long-distance touchdowns in the last three weeks, Gordon is a must-own and must-start option in fantasy and salary cap leagues until he cools off. Valued at $9.39 in Yahoo! Salary Cap leagues, Gordon is no longer the bargain he was a couple of weeks ago, but he is still much cheaper than the elite options at the position and represents a great value as a complementary receiver in salary cap leagues.
