Kevin Smith says Rudi Johnson now Lions starting RB
Rookie RB Kevin Smith
said on Monday that he was informed that Rudi Johnson will take over as the starter less than a quarter of the way through the Lions' season. As the Detroit News reported, he is not happy about it.
"I didn't get an opportunity," said Smith, the Lions' third-round draft pick. "I know that I'd have done the same thing. I'm good. I'm good enough to make as many plays as anybody on this offense. Anybody. So we'll see what happens.''
With the Lions' season already going down the drain, it is likely that the Lions will look to the future at some point and return Smith to the starting lineup; fantasy owners should hang on to him. For now, Johnson has additional value based on increased touches, but the inside runner will find little (if any) room to run against the Bears and Vikings the next two weeks.
