Mendenhall done for season with shoulder injury

Rashard Mendenhall @R_Mendenhall did not finish his first NFL start and now a fractured shoulder has finished him for the season. Already without Willie Parker (knee), the Steelers lost their first-round pick in the third quarter and will place him on injured reserve this week.

The Steelers also lost right guard Kendall Simmons for the season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Reserve RB Carey Davis also sprained his ankle in the game, so third-down back Mewelde Moore became the primary option and he could get the start in Week 5 as Parker is expected to miss another week. Moore is a decent short-term waiver wire option and Gary Russell is a deep sleeper if (as expected) he is activated from the practice squad. The Steelers worked out former running back Najeh Davenport and he is expected to be added to the mix.
