Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez trying to play this week

It's considered a bit of a longshot, but New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez @AaronHernandez is doing everything he can to be on the playing field Sunday versus the Oakland Raiders. The University of Florida product missed last week's game against Buffalo with a sprained MCL, which he suffered in week two. He was initially expected to miss 1-2 weeks.
"I'm feeling good, man," Hernandez told reporters Wednesday. "I just take it day by day and work with the trainers and try to get back as soon as possible."
According to the Boston Globe, Hernandez was seen walking through the Patriots' locker room Wednesday morning with a slight limp and a knee brace in his hand.

Fantasy Analysis:

Hernandez didn't practice on Wednesday and while missing a Wednesday practice is hardly a confirmation that a player won't play on Sunday -- see: Calvin Johnson -- I don't think Hernandez will suit up against Oakland. Rob Gronkowski @RobGronkowski is absolutely tearing it up, so there's no need for the Patriots to rush Hernandez. Expect him to have a better chance to play next week when the Patriots host the New York Jets.
