Head coach says 49ers RB Frank Gore is 'good to go'
Frank Gore has been a massive disappointment to his fantasy owners this year, but he lowered the bar yet again on Sunday. He gained just 42 yards on 17 carries, didn't catch a pass and lost a fumble against the Cincinnati Bengals. Gore saw his backup, Kendall Hunter
, score a touchdown while he was on the sidelines nursing an ankle injury.
Gore said after the game that he "tweaked" the ankle and that he "couldn't go the way I wanted to." But one day later, head coach Jim Harbaugh is already penciling Gore into his lineup for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Frank's status, in my mind right now, Frank is good to go," Harbaugh said in a conference call. "We'll plan, we'll scheme and prepare for this game with Frank, along with the rest of the players on this team."
Fantasy Analysis:
If Gore can play, he would have a very nice matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, with how he's looked on the field this year, I'm not sure a favorable matchup matters a whole lot right now. He's clearly not healthy.
Hunter is definitely someone to pick up. Gore has a long history of injuries and missing time, and Hunter is another good back who can be very serviceable in the receiving game. If Gore isn't good to go, Hunter will be a very solid flex play against a Philly defense that doesn't seem to care much about stopping the run.
