Eagles' Michael Vick has bruised hand, not broken; week 4 status uncertain
A CT scan Monday showed that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick
has just a deep bone bruise on his right hand. The hand is not broken, which had been previously reported. Vick's status for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers is uncertain at this point. The Eagles need to see the swelling in his hand decrease first.
"We will see how he does over the next couple of days," head coach Andy Reid said of Vick on Monday. "We have to get the swelling where it is manageable and he feels comfortable. It's about the same right now, and it's not to say that he can't play with the swelling, it's just got to be where he can bend his hand where he can work with it."
Vick injured the hand during Sunday's loss to the New York Giants. He had to go get X-rays during the game, but later returned. He was replaced by Mike Kafka
when the game was a lost cause for Philly in the fourth quarter.
Fantasy Analysis:
This will be a hot story all week, but at least it's better for Vick's fantasy owners than what appeared to be reality yesterday: At least a month-long at least due to a broken hand. Remember, Vick is left-handed, but I'm sure he'll need the pain and swelling to subside just so that he can take snaps from under center.
Reid said earlier tonight that Vince Young
's hamstring injury is no longer a problem. Considering how bad Kafka looked in relief yesterday, I think Young would be the man to get if Vick can't play. Guessing six days away from kickoff, I think Vick will be active.
