Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster to get 10-14 touches going forward
No one quite knows who will be the Kansas City Chiefs' best running back this season now that Jamaal Charles is on injured reserve. But there's no question who is the most exciting, who has the most fantasy upside. That would be Dexter McCluster
, and head coach Todd Haley said Wednesday that he wants to get the ball into McCluster's hands about 10-14 times per game, starting with this week's meeting with the San Diego Chargers. That's not including the work he'll also get on special teams.
Fantasy Analysis:
Thomas Jones will definitely see a decent amount of carries, and both he and Le'Ron McClain
will handle the goal-line touches; McCluster will have to score from some distance if he wants touchdowns. However, 10-14 touches per game for a player with his quickness and receiving ability is an interesting scenario. I think McCluster is a must-own in 12-team PPR leagues and he could become very valuable in standard leagues soon enough. Let's see how this all plays out first. Keep in mind that the Chiefs are pitiful and there's a chance they won't be able to give McCluster as many touches as they say.
