49ers WR Braylon Edwards has sprained right knee

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Braylon Edwards @OfficialBraylon has a sprained right knee that will limit him in practice this week. He's currently listed as day-to-day. Through two games, Edwards has only four catches for 48 yards. San Francisco's new style of play on offense is to minimize risk and play the short field, which isn't exactly a great fit for Edwards as a downfield threat. The 49ers certainly look better than they did last year, but it hasn't come because of Edwards.

Fantasy Analysis:

Fantasy owners expecting Edwards to revitalize his career in San Francisco are clearly regretting that idea. The 49ers passing attack can't even be categorized as an attack. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has put the kid gloves on and isn't asking his offense to do a lot under Alex Smith. If you still own Edwards, it's best to cut him loose. There are a lot of receivers who look like breakout stars in the making available on the waiver wire if you're able to claim them. Go after those free agents and cut Edwards loose.
