Vikings give Adrian Peterson $100 million contract

So much for Chris Johnson's hope to be the NFL's highest-paid running back. Nine days after Johnson got his money, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson has topped him with a seven-year deal worth up to $100 million dollars, $36 million of which is guaranteed. Peterson is now under contract through the 2017 season. He will be 32 years old when it ends.
Johnson signed a four-year contract extension worth $53.5 million on Sept. 1. That carries $30 million guranteed.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's a crazy amount of money for a running back. But if anyone in the NFL is going to get crazy money for a running back, it should be Peterson. He has scored 52 rushing touchdowns in four seasons and had a career-low 1,298 rushing yards last season. When that's your low, you know you're doing something right.
Peterson's physical running style makes him a candidate for a precipitous breakdown as he hits 30 years of age, so maybe the Vikings will come to regret this agreement in a handful of years. But for now, Peterson is just 26 years old and one of the greatest players in the game. Wth his future no longer in doubt, Peterson can go out and prove his worth with a record-setting season.
