Burress signs 2-year contract extension
Before finding holes all over the Redskins secondary, Giants WR Plaxico Burress
signed a two-year contract extension hours before the season opener. Burress, who caught what turned out to be the winning touchdown pass against the Patriots in last season's Super Bowl, had been angling for a new contract despite having three years left on his previous deal.
The extension should eliminate any in-season awkwardness between the star wide receiver and the Giants front office. Clearly Burress did not let the signing bonus slow down his play in the Giants' win, hauling in 10 receptions for 133 yards.
