Antonio Gates said on Wednesday that he is still limited at times by his ongoing toe injury and expects to come off the bench in Week One.

"I won't start the game, obviously, but just trying to monitor the situation and do all I can," Gates said. " . . . Just depending how it feels when I get out there, how I feel and whatever (the staff wants) me to do.

Unless Gates is ruled out prior to Sunday, it will be hard to sit him in leagues that require a TE in the lineup due to his overall value and the 4pm start. If he plays, he should see enough snaps to produce for fantasy owners whether he starts or not and Gates has been effective despite dealing with injuries in the past. Of course, his fantasy owners hope his future is a healthier one.
