Bears LB Lance Briggs seeking trade
Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs
has formally requested a trade despite having three years left on his current contract. He signed a six-year contract in 2008. Long story short, he has no leverage in this negotiation. Briggs has averaged over 100 tackles per season in his eight-year career and has been a key cog to the Bears' defense alongside stud linebacker Brian Urlacher
.
Fantasy Analysis:
Briggs is scheduled to earn $3.9 million this year and is seeking a restructured deal to increase his salary this year since like most contracts, the majority of the money comes in its final years. He has stated he plans to play out his contract but was apparently hoping the Bears would bend to his wishes. Compared to other lesser players, Briggs pay isn't representative of his talent and production, but he'll need to wait a year or two to make something out of this issue.
