Source: Saints kicker Garrett Hartley could miss 10 weeks
New Orleans Saints kicker Garrett Hartley
has a hip flexor injury that will keep him out of action for at least six weeks and as many as 10 according to a league source via The New Orleans Times-Picayune. Hartley suffered the injury while converting an extra point during the Saints' 40-20 victory over Oakland on Sunday. The team signed 41-year-old John Kasay soon after that game.
Fantasy Analysis:
I never write about kickers here and for good reason. While there are a few good ones, their weekly statistical output is completely unpredictable. Just pick somebody with a decent offense and move on.
But it's late, I'm a little delirious, this is a fairly substantial injury, and the Saints have an offense that should be friendly for kickers in fantasy. However, Kasay is probably not someone you want. He certainly didn't impress head coach Sean Payton after missing two of his three kicks Thursday, including an extra point.
Unless Nate Kaeding blows out a knee or Stephen Gostkowski needs to have a foot amputated, I swear I will not waste any more of your time with kicker issues.
