Titans, RB Chris Johnson agree to 4-year contract extension
The holdout of the summer is over. Chris Johnson
has agreed to terms with the Tennessee TItans on a four-year contract extension worth $53.5 million, including $30 million guaranteed. He is now under contract through the 2016 season. Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean was the first to break the news.
This means that Johnson will have 10 days to get into camp and prepare for the Titans' season-opening game versus Jacksonville on Sept. 11.
Fantasy Analysis:
Feel free to raise Johnson back up your draft boards. Some people had him falling out of the first round as late as yesterday, but if he's in good physical condition, it shouldn't take him that long to get ready for the season. The money is what everyone wants to talk about, but I couldn't care less about it. He has signed; that's what the fantasy community should care about. Johnson is an easy top-three pick and with the holdout over, he probably should be No. 1 in most leagues. In a first tier of running backs that is full of questions, Johnson now carries the least amount of concern.
