Giants WR Victor Cruz to work the slot
The New York Giants were attempting to give wide receiver Mario Manningham
a shot at working the slot while using wide receiver Domenick Hixon outside at flanker. This experiment appears to have failed with preseason stud Victor Cruz
working the slot in the Giants' last two preseason games. For the time being, pencil Cruz in as the team's No. 3 receiver.
Fantasy Analysis:
Cruz burst onto the scene last year after shining during the team's preseason slate. He hasn't done nearly as much this year, but the team appears to beleive in him. New York has a deadly combo between receivers Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham so any additional production they can get from Cruz is a bonus. Look for Nicks and Manningham to work outside while Cruz is given time to develop in the slot. He'll need to work on his timing with quarterback Eli Manning, but that will develop as the year progresses. For now, Cruz is a sneaky deep-league sleeper only.
