49ers RB Frank Gore receives contract extension
A top-flight running back has gotten the money he's been desiring for weeks. But it's not Chris Johnson. It's San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore. He agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $21 million on Tuesday. He'll get $13 million guaranteed. Gore was scheduled to play this season, the last on his now-previous deal, for $4.9 million.
Fantasy Analysis:
It's not the mega-bucks contract Gore may have hoped for, but he's apparently OK with a medium-sized deal. Gore is 28 years old and is a fringe RB1 this year. He would be higher if he could just stay healthy for a full 16 weeks. Gore missed five games last season due to a fractured hip, and he hasn't played in more than 14 games since 2007. I would rather have Gore than someone like Michael Turner or Steven Jackson, and he should be very productive for those in PPR leagues. Just make sure you secure some nice (read: durable) backups at RB for him
