Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew to play in preseason game Thursday
We are entering the fourth week of the preseason. Veterans may play or series or two, but most of them are just looking for time to kill the game. Not Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew
. After missing the first three preseason games as he continued to rehab his surgically repaired knee, Jones-Drew is ready to test his body Thursday against the St. Louis Rams.
"Still going out there running and still having that burst, that's really all you want," Jones-Drew told The Florida Times-Union. "There's no fatigue factor or anything. I can't wait to go out there in a live period to see what it's like and take a couple of hits, get tackled hopefully and get ready for Week 1."
Jones-Drew's return comes at a good time for the Jags' running game since their top backups, Rashad Jennings
and Deji Karim
, are both injured.
Fantasy Analysis:
Among all of the meaningless games this month, the fourth preseason game is king. But I'm slightly intrigued to see MJD on the field and get a glance at his burst and how he is able to shift laterally. However, I'm still antsy about him in drafts. I would still want solid players with less red flags, such as Roddy White and Rashard Mendenhall before MJD, both of whom are going after him on average according to FFToolbox's ADP chart. I have a feeling that we'll be hearing about Jones-Drew's knee for most of the season. And that's not a good thing.
