49ers take WR Michael Crabtree off PUP list
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree
is now eligible to practice with his team for the first time in training camp after the team removed him from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Tuesday. Crabtree, who was put on the PUP list July 28, has been missing in action because of a left foot injury. That's the same foot Crabtree fractured in 2009 and had surgery performed on prior to training camp this year.
Fantasy Analysis:
Three years in, the large majority of three training camps missed. Crabtree has immense talent, but his feet and his relationship with Alex Smith keep getting in the way of potential success.
Much like Peyton Manning, just because Crabtree is off the PUP list doesn't mean he's completely healthy. But unlike Manning, I think his injury will evidently affect him early in the year.
Crabtree caught 55 passes for 741 yards and six touchdowns last season; I'm not expecting anything more from him this year. I have no reason to expect anything more from him. Crabtree is best used as a late-round reserve WR in fantasy.
