Bengals RB Cedric Benson gets 20-day jail sentence
Cincinnati Bengals running back Cedric Benson
was sentenced to 20 days in jail Monday for his role in a bar fight from 2010. But Benson, who pleaded no contest, isn't expected to miss any game action during the season. That's because he's agreed to turn himself in Oct. 17, the first day of the Bengals' bye week. With credit for good behavior, Benson is expected to miss a couple of practices as he spends time in the clink, but he should be out in plenty of time before the Bengals' next game, Oct. 30 at Seattle.
On Monday, Benson also resolved an assault charge stemming from a July incident with a former roommate. Benson entered into a deferred prosecution agreement, meaning the charge will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for one year.
Fantasy Analysis:
What a class act. Anyway, there may be no team I dislike more this season for fantasy purposes than the Cincinnati Bengals. The passing game is full of greenhorns, and Benson can't carry an offense on his back, although he might be asked to do so. He averaged 3.5 yards per carry last season, and he'll see a ton of defensive attention in the box with no other established threats around him. Ignore everyone in Cincy and save yourself some headaches.
