Update: Browns RB Brandon Jackson could be out for season
We all know turf toe injuries have a tendency to linger, but this is ridiculous.
Cleveland Browns running back Brandon Jackson
hurt his toe during the team's second preseason game and was diagnosed with the always pesky turf toe. While the digit is reportedly not broken, it is in a cast, and head coach Pat Shurmur said Friday that Jackson will be out for "an extended period." That could mean the entire 2011 season, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter is a bit more optimstic. He tweeted about 30 minutes ago that Jackson's toe will keep him out of action for a maximum of six weeks. Either way, he miss most if not all of September. We'll see what happens from there.
Fantasy Analysis:
So Jackson has a severe toe injury. Peyton Hillis
has a hamstring bugging him, and Montario Hardesty
is still trying to come back from 2010 knee surgery. Other than that, the Browns' run game is just peachy. As long as Hardesty can stay healthy -- a tall order for sure -- he will be the handcuff for Hillis. It looks like Jackson is all but out of consideration. Hillis remains a nice RB2, but the injuries surrounding this group make it difficult for me to feel very confident about any of them.
