According to Matt Maiocco, a reporter following the San Francisco 49ers for years now, running back Frank Gore "snapped" at his assistant coaches because of his building frustration over his contract. Gore is upset that he is playing so much during the preseason since it puts him at serious risk for injury during his contract year. He is seeking a contract extension prior to the start of the regular season so he is able to fully focus on the game and not on the business behind it.

Personally, I don't believe in karma, but if you do, Gore isn't doing much to help himself out. There have been a lot of recent reports about Gore's frustration leaking out into the media. Maybe the 49ers are doing some PR work behind the scenes to make him look bad, but either way, this stuff should kept behind closed doors. Gore has struggled with injuries throughout his career but there's no denying he's a vital piece to the 49ers' offensive puzzle. He remains a solid second round choice if you can stomach the durability issues.
