QB Kerry Collins comes out of retirement, signs with Colts
Curtis Painter and Dan Orlovsky
haven't shown that they are capable of doing it, so the Indianapolis Colts need to find somebody who could lead their team in case Peyton Manning misses regular season games.
Cue Kerry Collins.
The 38-year-old veteran of 16 NFL seasons announced his retirement last month. But the Colts have drawn him back into the fray. Owner Jim Irsay broke the news on his Twitter account Wednesday.
Fantasy Analysis:
This news broke just prior to a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen stating that the Colts' brass doesn't believe Manning will be ready for that opening game versus Houston. Manning reportedly remains "hopeful" that he will be there, and some of his teammates have expressed confidence on that point. But the addition of Collins has certainly raised some eyebrows. It seems like now, more than ever before during this offseason, Manning's status for week one is extremely questionable. As such, he becomes maybe the hottest fantasy debate topic.
How far has Manning fallen down your draft list? Are you still willing to take him among the top-seven studs at QB or do you let him drop and hope to get him as a bargain later on? Or, with more than two weeks to go until that first game, are you not yet stressing about Manning?
