No progress made in contract talks between Titans, RB Chris Johnson
The meeting has adjoured and, as expected, Chris Johnson
did not come away from his session with Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt with a new contract. But even more concerning is that Reinfeldt didn't think the meeting accomplished much of anything.
"I'm not sure there was any progress made, but I do think it was beneficial to meet," Reinfeldt said in a statement. "We were able to discuss several different elements of a potential contract, but there was no agreement on those topics. I do expect to have another conversation with [Johnson's agent, Joel Segal] in the next day or so to discuss things further."
Fantasy Analysis:
And so the holdout continues. The two sides will continue to talk, but it's a little telling that they couldn't make any headway today. I'd still take Johnson within the first five or six picks of a fantasy draft because there is still time to get a deal done before the season opens. But there's not a lot of positive vibes around this thing right now. It's time to familiarize yourself with Javon Ringer
and Jamie Harper some more.
