RB Larry Johnson signs with Dolphins

This may draw nothing more in fantasy circles than some storytelling, both positive and bitter. Larry Johnson is back in the NFL and it's with the Miami Dolphins. Miami signed Johnson on Tuesday after passing on a couple of other old-timers: Tiki Barber and Clinton Portis.
Johnson's NFL highlight reel consists of basically what he did in 2005 and 2006. He put up back-to-back seasons with at least 1,700 rushing yards, 2,000 yards from scrimmage and 19 touchdowns. But he touched the ball an astounding 826 times in those two seasons and never came close to matching that success ever again. In 2010, he played with the Washington Redskins and gained a grand total of two yards on five carries before getting released after two games. Johnson is now 32 years old.

Fantasy Analysis:

Johnson may not make the team and isn't more than the No. 3 RB in Miami at the absolute most. Daniel Thomas hasn't looked all that great in the preseason, so the Johnson signing may have come because the Dolphins feel like they just need another big body in the backfield. They will try him out, but they shouldn't expect much. No one else is. Barring a miracle, Johnson will have zero fantasy value in 2011.
