Redskins TE Chris Cooley continues to deal with knee pain
Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley
is determined to be on the field when the season opens Sept. 11. How long he can stay on the field remains a question as Cooley has dealt with pain in his left knee since the beginning of last season, and it still hasn't gone away. He told The Washington Times on Monday that he will have to manage the pain all year.
"I have enough cartilage in my knee," Cooley said. "The problem was over a long period of time I was starting to bruise around it, and the joint around it was becoming so irritated."
Cooley, who underwent surgery for a torn meniscus during the offseason, said he expects to practice next week.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is nothing new with Cooley; we've heard about his aching knee all August. He might be able to make it through 16 games, but why even take the risk as a fantasy owner? Tight end is an incredibly deep position this season, so don't burden yourself with a player who comes with immediate injury concerns. Skip Cooley in your draft.
