Broncos name Kyle Orton starting quarterback
Kyle Orton wasn't even supposed to be a part of the battle to be the Denver Broncos' starting quarterback. He was supposed to be in Miami or somewhere by now while Tim Tebow
took over. But Orton has been the team's No. 1 QB throughout training camp and on Monday, head coach John Fox officially named Orton his starting quarterback for Denver's regular-season opener versus Oakland on Sept. 12. Fox would not say in what order Tebow and Brady Quinn
sit on the depth chart behind Orton.
Fantasy Analysis:
This scenario seemed so unlikely just a few weeks ago, but there's been no doubt about this since the Broncos started camp. He's been working with the first-string offense throughout and has faced little competition. Orton was one of fantasy football's first-half MVPs last year, but he's not going to be throwing 40-50 times per game much on a Fox-coached team. Those totals should settle back into the 30s as the Broncos try to attack defenses with a heavy dose of rushing. Orton is a decent QB2.
