Giants WR Domenik Hixon holds slim lead for No. 3 WR spot
Due to the departure of former Giants WR Steve Smith
to the Philadelphia Eagles, there is a position battle brewing. WR Domenik Hixon
missed the entire 2010 season due to injury and is back in the fold. WR Victor Cruz
is competing for that spot, but the New York Daily News is reporting that he has not seperated himself from "the rest of the pack." It was also noted that Cruz has the potential to win the spot but hasn't done enough on the field to merit the change.
Fantasy Analysis:
Cruz was a preseason darling last year but has done very little to establish himself again this preseason. The Giants offense can certainly put up points and played a lot of close games last year which necessitates more passing. Unfortunately, Hixon has limited potential as a fantasy wideout since he is more of a possession receiver. Cruz has big-play potential and may emerge later in the year if he can't play his way onto the field in the immediate future.
