Raiders select QB Terrelle Pryor in 3rd round of supplemental draft

The most famous player in the six-player pool in the NFL's 2011 supplemental draft has found a pretty unsurprising buyer. The Oakland Raiders took former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor with the 18th pick of the third round during Monday's draft. ESPN's Adam Schefter was first to report the news.
The Raiders' third-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft is now forfeited. They also don't have a fourth-round pick in that draft due to the Jason Campbell trade, and they traded their second-round pick to the Patriots in April.
Pryor will sit out the first five games of the season due to suspension.

Fantasy Analysis:

Of course the Raiders were going to take Pryor; he had a fantastic 40-yard dash time and everyone knows the Raiders can't help themselves when it comes to selecting fast players. Schefter also tweeted that the Raiders drafted the players who ran the fastest 40 at the past three NFL Combines: DeMarcus Van Dyke, Jacoby Ford and Darrius Heyward-Bey. They reached for Heyward-Bey in 2009 and they reached for Pryor here. Most teams gave him a fourth-to-sixth-round grade, but the Raiders had to get him in the third.
Pryor said recently that he'll play any position but that he favors quarterback. The Raiders probably want him to be a quarterback. However, he's not a polished passer by any means and should spend much of his rookie season being more of a runner -- or overall athlete -- than a passer. Who knows how often Pryor will see the field. He has no fantasy value for a while.
