Lions RB Jahvid Best held out from practice
Detriot Lions beat writer Chris McCosky tweeted that Lions' running back Jahvid Best
is being held out of practice today (Sunday, August 21). Best took a hard hit during Detroit's preseason game on Friday night. It was speculated that he may have sustained a concussion but nothing official ever surfaced from the Lions to confirm or deny this report. Best has a history of bad concussions. A severe concussion prematurely ended his college career while at Cal.
Fantasy Analysis:
Best doesn't have much competition in the Lions' backfield with rookie RB Mikel Leshoure out for the year. As long as Best can stay healthy, which is a big assumption, there's huge upside and fantasy value to be had with him. Best is expected to return to practice later this week so while this injury doesn't directly affect his season, it does remind owners the inherent risk of relying on a player with such a consistent injury history.
