49ers RB Frank Gore frustrated about contract

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore is "frustrated" due to a lack of progress about a potential contract renegotiation. Gore agreed to show up for training camp based on the word from the organization that they'd seriously consider re-working his deal. The 49ers featured back turned 28 in May and 2010 marked his first season since his 2005 rookie year where he did not rush for 1,000-plus yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

Given that Carolina gave DeAngelo Williams @DeAngeloRB a big new contract, it has set a bad precedent to fellow backs looking for new deals like Gore and Tennessee's Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28. Gore and Williams are both 28 years old and Gore has better stats across the board in his career. Gore likely wants a similar deal but Carolina overpaid Williams and San Francisco may not want to fork out that kind of cash to an aging star. Gore is still an early second round option with the potential to go towards the end of the first round. Contract deals can come at the last minute so assume for now that he will play in the regular season opener.
