Chiefs WR Jonathan Baldwin injures wrist during fight with teammate
It hasn't been a great training camp for Chiefs rookie wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin. He's dealt with a hamstring injury; he has struggled with press coverage at the line of scrimmage; he is listed as a third-team wideout on some depth charts.
But whatever has happened to him during the first few weeks of training camp is peanuts compared to what he did earlier this week. According to Nick Wright of 610 AM radio in Kansas City, Baldwin injured his wrist during a locker-room fight with veteran running back Thomas Jones. Wright is also reporting, via Twitter, that Baldwin may miss six-to-eight weeks due to the injury.
"What I'm hearing on Baldwin: "he's as advertised. Diva, spoiled, doesn't wanna listen," Wright wrote on Twitter. "Can run a Go and a Slant, and doesn't wanna work."
Fantasy Analysis:
I guess you could say Baldwin's rookie year isn't off to the greatest of starts. It usually is not very endearing when you brawl with a team leader.
At the very least, Baldwin was already behind Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston and Jerheme Urban on the Chiefs' WR depth chart. This will push him down much further. For all intents and purposes, you can write Baldwin off for 2011.
