Bears WR Roy Williams out of shape
As a wide receiver, there's nothing that says you're ready to become a big factor in a passing game than being admittedly out of shape, right? That's the case with Chicago Bears wide receiver Roy Williams.
He signed a one-year deal with the Bears last month to join up with his once-former offensive coordinator Mike Martz. He has already supplanted the team's 2010 leading receiver, Johnny Knox, in the starting lineup, and Martz has said on record that he's expecting a career year out of Williams.
But Williams knows that if the season started today, he wouldn't be in shape. When asked about his conditioning, Williams said, "Ooh, yeah. ... About that. How many more weeks have we got?"
Williams said he is still trying to get his "wind right" to be able to run in Chicago's offense.
Fantasy Analysis:
I guess this isn't too big of a deal now because we're still more than three weeks away from the first Sunday of the regular season. But this just seems to be a bad omen. Martz said he's expecting 70-80 catches from Williams this year; you shouldn't expect the same. Even when Williams gets his conditioning straightened out, he's nothing more than a reserve wideout in fantasy drafts.
