Terrell Owens says he'll be ready to play 2 or 3 weeks into regular season

It seems like free-agent wide receiver Terrell Owens @terrellowens has been way ahead of schedule in his recovery from ACL surgery since the first day we heard about it. Owens, who had the surgery performed in April, is backing off from statements by his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who said Owens would be healthy in time for the start of the regular season. But according to Owens, he is still going to be ready in a remarkably quick amount of time.
"Talking with the doctors, going through my personal training in L.A. and in Pensacola (Fla.), they stressed that I'm way ahead of schedule," Owens told ESPN.com earlier this week. "I'm giving myself the timetable of maybe two or three weeks into the season that I'll be ready. That's giving myself a grace period, for setbacks. I'm rehabbing my butt off to get back on the field."
Owens, 37, said he hasn't spoken to any teams about playing and isn't going to rush himself. But he's confident and determined that he'll be back in the NFL shortly.
"This is another challenge for me," Owens said. "Another opportunity to show people that age is nothing but a number. You can do anything you put your mind and body to. I don't allow naysayers to deter me from my goal."

Fantasy Analysis:

Right now, Owens isn't a fantasy commodity and won't be until after the season begins. Some team will likely sign him after week one when his contract for the year won't be fully guaranteed. It's just amazing how quickly T.O. appears to be reaching full strength in that knee. When Wes Welker tore his ACL in early January 2010 and then played in Septemeber, that was considered an amazing comeback. Owens' Wolverine-like healing abilities would make that case seem normal.
Owens is obviously a name to track during the season. But again, he probably won't sign with a team until week two at the earliest.
