Rams' Steven Jackson feeling 100 percent
St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson
posted the lowest yards-per-carry average of his career in 2010. The 28-year-old seems to be declining as his large workload and thousands of hits to his body finally take their evident toll. But Jackson wouldn't think any of that is true. He told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he feels physically better right now than in any other preseason since his rookie year of 2004.
"I feel great," Jackson said. "Tip-top condition, my strength is there. ... (I'm) not worried if something is going to let up on me. The timidness of my game is gone ... again. It feels good."
Fantasy Analysis:
Jackson remains the Rams' clear-cut No. 1 RB, and they'll lean on him yet again this season. But the numbers do carry some weight. In the past two seasons, Jackson has touched the ball 751 times, carrying the ball at least 320 times in each year. I know he's only 28, but that's a tremendous amount of pounding on one body. It's no coincidence to me that Jackson's YPC average dropped to 3.8 last season. I think he's on the downside of his career and is someone I'll be letting slide in drafts.
