Eagles head coach Andy Reid 'optimistic' about WR Jeremy Maclin

There's really no reason for optimism with Jeremy Maclin @jmac_18's situation. The Philadelphia Eagles wideout has been battling some kind of undisclosed illness for about five months now. The exact problem with Maclin is a riddle wrapped in an enigma, shrouded in mystery. However, head coach Andy Reid said Thursday night that optimistic is exactly what he is. He thinks Maclin will be able to play when the regular season arrives. "I think he's going to be ready," Reid said of Maclin to CSNPhilly.com. "I guess I'm optimistic. I'm waiting to hear the results, but I'm optimistic." Maclin has left Philadelphia and traveled back home to St. Louis to have even more tests done. "His (surrogate) father is a doctor, so that is actually a comforting feeling," Reid said. "He has someone there that he is very close to, and his dad has a good pulse on things, which we encourage, so that's where he had some of the tests done."

Fantasy Analysis:

Obviously, I hope Maclin ends up OK, but this has become a very annoying issue for fantasy purposes. When healthy, Maclin can be a solid WR2 in fantasy. But until we know more about his condition, it's best to stay away from him. Just hope he gets well and comes back soon.
