Eagles' Michael Vick working to get TE Brent Celek more involved

For whatever reason, Michael Vick @MikeVick and Brent Celek @BrentCelek just didn't connect much last season. In 13 games with Vick at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, Celek caught just 29 passes and two touchdowns. Celek surpassed 75 yards in a game just once with Vick. In comments to GCobb.com, Vick pointed out that he "failed" in getting the ball to Celek. But he also said they are working to change that in 2011. "I think this season is going to be a great year for Brent," Vick said. "We've been connecting a lot over the last couple of weeks. I just told him he needs to trust me, and I'm going to get the ball to him. Just get open and I'll find you. "The majority of the time last year, he was wide open. I just failed to get the ball to him -- just focusing in on DeSean [Jackson] and Jeremy [Maclin]. I went back on some of my Atlanta film and how I used Alge [Crumpler]. We're going to get Brent involved this year -- I think he deserves that."

Fantasy Analysis:

It's not like Celek can't get it done. In 2009, he had a big breakout year and was an extremely valuable fantasy commodity. He caught 76 passes for 971 yards and eight touchdowns. Of course, that was with Kolb and Donovan McNabb under center. With Vick, his numbers dropped dramatically. He even went through a few games without registering a single catch. It's nice to hear Vick talk about how he didn't do enough with Celek last season, but I'll believe it when I see it. As of right now, Celek is a clear TE2, but one with a lot of upside who could turn out to be quite a bargain if Vick sticks to his word.
