Panthers WR David Gettis may be out for season with torn ACL

The Carolina Panthers' receiving corps got a little thinner on Wednesday when David Gettis got his left foot caught in the turf during practice and tore the ACL in his left knee. When asked if Gettis would miss the entire 2011 season, head coach Ron Rivera was non-committal, simply saying, "We'll see." Gettis caught 37 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie last year. He had a chance to be Carolina's No. 2 WR to open this season; now Brandon LaFell @Blafell1 and new addition Legedu Naanee @naanee11 are the most likely candidates to take over that role.

Fantasy Analysis:

Gettis wasn't expected to be much of a factor in fantasy, but he showed some decent promise last season considering the Panthers' troubles at QB. LaFell and Naanee are worth ignoring for now. Steve Smith and tight end Greg Olsen remain the only receivers in Carolina to care about in drafts.
