Steelers pick up WR Jerricho Cotchery
Jerricho Cotchery
wanted to find a team that would utilize him as something more than a No. 3 wide receiver. He ended up in a place where he won't get even that much playing time. Cotchery agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cotchery spent the first seven seasons of his career with the New York Jets, who cut him last week. Cotchery put up at least 800 receiving yards each season from 2006-09, but he gained just 433 yards on 41 receptions last season.
Fantasy Analysis:
The early speculation is that Cotchery won't be the Steelers' No. 3 or No. 4 wideout. Beat writers think Cotchery will start out as the No. 5 WR, behind Mike Wallace, Hines Ward
, Emmanuel Sanders
and maybe Antonio Brown
. So Cotchery will need some misfortune to the guys in front of him to take place if he wants to be fantasy relevant. Right now, he is not.
