Falcons re-sign RB Jason Snelling

The Atlanta Falcons have re-signed Jason Snelling @JSNELZ44 to be their No. 2 running back for another season. Snelling signed a one-year contract Sunday with the only NFL team he's played on in four seasons. Snelling was on the radars of the Chiefs, Giants, Rams and other teams, and it looked like he wouldn't return to Atlanta. But in the end, he's back. Snelling, 27, carried the ball 87 times last season for 324 carries. He caught 44 passes for 303 yards, and he scored five total touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

That pretty much takes care of rookie Jacquizz Rodgers @Qui22Rodgers' fantasy value. He'll get some work on passing downs, but Snelling is the clear backup running back in Atlanta. He tried to find more money elsewhere, but he instead returns to be the team's safety net if Michael Turner goes down -- something that seems inevitable considering how he ran in the second half of last season. Because of Turner's relative lack of durability, Snelling is one of the more viable pure backup RBs in fantasy drafts.
