Bears RB Matt Forte may skip preseason games without new contract

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte @MattForte22 didn't hold out of training camp after expressing his desire to receive a new contract. But he might hold out of games. Well, preseason games. "I've considered not playing in the preseason games," Forte told the Chicago Tribune. "But just to make that a fact, and say 'I'm not going to,' I haven't gotten there yet." Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said there is no timetable to complete a contract extension for Forte, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is scheduled to make $555,000 in 2011. But Angelo has said that he's "motivated" to give Forte what he wants. The fact that Soldier Field's playing surface was deemed unplayable for a team practice just a couple of days ago may give Forte another reason to disregard exhibition games.

Fantasy Analysis:

How much is a running back affected if he doesn't play during the preseason but still practices during the week and is preparing to suit up when the regular season arrives? I don't know, but I would still like to see Forte take part in some game action prior to September just to see how he looks. Hopefully the two sides can agree on an extension soon. I think Forte is a very solid RB2 in fantasy.
