Saints RB Chris Ivory has sports hernia surgery

New Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory @ivory33 has yet to participate in any team practices during training camp as he continues to recover from January foot surgery. Now he has to recover from another operation. Head coach Sean Payton announced Friday that Ivory has undergone sports hernia surgery. It's expected he'll need about three weeks to heal. Ivory rushed for 716 yards on just 137 carries during his 2010 rookie season. He also scored five touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

There's still more than four weeks between now and the Saints' first game -- Sept. 8 at Green Bay. But with Ivory's foot problems and now this, there is speculation that he'll be placed on the PUP list to start the regular season, which means he would have to miss the first six games. However, it may not matter much to his fantasy value. With Mark Ingram @MarkIngram22, Pierre Thomas @Pierre_Thomas and Darren Sproles @DarrenSproles all demanding and deserving touches, I'm not sure what work will be left for Ivory even when he is healthy. He should go undrafted in your league.
