Browns RB Montario Hardesty, WR Mohamed Massaquoi ailing

Two of the Cleveland Browns' more important contributors on offense -- neither are named Peyton Hillis @thepeytonhillis -- are fighting the injury bug. Hillis' possible backup Montario Hardesty @MoHard20 said last month that he would be ready for training camp after ACL surgery. But that doesn't seem to be the case. He had the ligament repaired about 11 months ago, but Hardesty is still not working out with the team, However, head coach Pat Shurmur said Friday that it's all part of the team's plan. "What we're doing with him is kind of a planned deal," he said. "As we started training camp, we knew there would be some actual live practice time that he would miss. We knew that. We're just working through that so we don't create any setbacks. Most of what's going on with him right now is planned." Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi @MoMass13 has missed the past six days of training camp due to a bothersome left ankle. He is expected to be a starting wideout for Cleveland alongside rookie Greg Little @Str8UpGlittle. When asked about Massaquoi's status Friday, Shurmur said he wouldn't put a timetable on his return.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's becoming more understandable why the Browns added Brandon Jackson @bjackson32 to their backfield during free agency. Shurmur may say that what's going on with Hardesty is all planned, but some beat writers don't believe it. They think Hardesty is hurting more than the team is letting on. So for right now, downgrade Hardesty until we hear something more definitive. Massaquoi is a reserve fantasy WR. His absence could give Brian Robiskie and/or Josh Cribbs a big opportunity to crack the starting lineup.
