Texans' Arian Foster injures hamstring in practice
Houston Texans running back Arian Foster
injured his hamstring during Friday's 11-on-11 scrimmage. The injury happened on the team's first play of the day. Foster ran for 40 yards but then pulled up lame afterward and grabbed his leg. He filled the role of spectator for the rest of the scrimmage, and had his leg heavily wrapped during the Texans' second practice of the day. He was present but didn't take part in that session.
Head coach Gary Kubiak said he doesn't the severity of Foster's injury but also said he's not too worried at the moment.
"I don't know, but [Foster] didn't feel good so I just said 'Get out,'" Kubiak said to the Houston Chronicle. "He went 35, 40 minutes (in practice) and looked great, so I'm hoping he'll be right back out here. We'll see."
Wide receiver Andre Johnson
and tight end Owen Daniels
also did not participate in Friday's practices. Johnson's dislocated left index finger is still healing. Plus, he has a touch of the flu. Daniels was also too sick to practice.
Fantasy Analysis:
Obviously, Foster is the guy to worry about here. We should know more soon, but as you know, hamstring injuries can be very touch-and-go. I suspect he'll lie low for a bit and take all the time he needs. The main goal is that he's healthy come September. With him out, Derrick Ward
and Ben Tate
will likely split the first-team reps. That's an interesting camp battle to watch, considering the winner will be the direct backup to the possible No. 1 RB in fantasy.
