Jets' LaDainian Tomlinson expects to play beyond 2011
New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson is 32 years old and has more than 3,000 carries in his career. He is not an asset in fantasy keeper leagues by any means. But Tomlinson thinks that this season, his 11th in the NFL, won't be his last. "I just think how I feel, obviously God willing and knock on wood and all that stuff, how I feel physically, mentally, that's why I can say I'm going to continue to play after this year," Tomlinson told the Newark Star-Ledger. Tomlinson would like to remain with the Jets, but he will be a free agent in 2012.
Fantasy Analysis:
I don't really deal with keeper leagues, so all I can really talk about with Tomlinson is his immediate value. Jets head coach Rex Ryan has already said Tomlinson will be the team's third-down back this season. I wouldn't expect him to get more than 160 or so carries this season, which makes him just a reserve back in standard leagues. He has a chance to save his fantasy value somewhat if the Jets use Tomlinson as their goal-line RB.
