Patriots re-sign RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis

One of the most productive running backs still on the free-agent market -- albeit as a restricted free agent -- has signed. And BenJarvus Green-Ellis @TheLawFirmBJGE is staying in New England, as expected. The Patriots re-signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.835 million Wednesday. Green-Ellis was just another guy in the Patriots' backfield last year until Fred Taylor got hurt early in the regular season. He was given more carries per game and turned his expanded opportunity into 1,008 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. His 13 rush TDs tied for the third-most by a Patriots player.

Fantasy Analysis:

But Green-Ellis is just a flex play entering this season. Yeah, he proved to be successful in his role last year, but Kevin Faulk @feezy_k and Sammy Morris are back for yet another year. Plus, New England just drafted Shane Vereen @ShaneVereen34 and Stevan Ridley @StevanRidley (I like the former more than the latter). And of course there's Danny Woodhead @danny__woodhead, who experienced his own breakout season in 2010. All of it means that BJG-E is far from a safe bet to repeat his numbers in 2011.
