Chiefs sign RB Le'Ron McClain

The Kansas City Chiefs have added some bulk to their group of running backs. The team signed former Ravens fullback/running back Le'Ron McClain to a one-year deal Wednesday. McClain played his first four NFL seasons in Baltimore, the best of which came in 2008. That was when McClain scored 10 touchdowns and ran for more than 900 yards. He has fewer than 300 rushing yards in his three other seasons combined.

Fantasy Analysis:

That statistic bothered McClain, and he made it known that he wanted more carries in 2011. Apparently there weren't many buyers out there looking to utilize him as a runner. The Chiefs certainly don't have much of a need; Jamaal Charles @jcharles25 is a blossoming stud. However, McClain presents a big threat to 32-year-old Thomas Jones. McClain's role in KC will basically be to clear a path for Charles and take care of the goal-line carries if Jones can't get the job done. But considering how Jones has been a goal-line vulture for the past couple of seasons, I don't see McClain as a reason to downgrade Charles. He'll do just fine no matter who gets the ball inside the 5.
