Titans want to add a bulky running back

The Titans obviously don't have much concern about Chris Johnson @ChrisJohnson28's workload right now. He carried the ball 316 times last season, added 44 receptions, and offensive coordinator Chris Palmer doesn't hint to any change in that strategy. "Just watching Chris run, when he's not on the field, I think we're hurting ourselves," Palmer told The Tennessean. "Any time he touches the ball, he has the ability to go the distance." But that doesn't mean Johnson will have Tennessee's backfield all to himself. Palmer also said that the Titans will "definitely be adding a big back for certain situations."

Fantasy Analysis:

You read that and you might automatically assume that the team is going to take away Johnson's goal-line touches. But how much impact is that going to have on his fantasy value, really? In 2008, LenDale White was the Titans' short-yardage and goal-line running back. He tallied 15 vulture scores. But Johnson still racked up 1,228 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns. He accomplished that on just 251 carries, and that was his rookie season. Since then, the Titans have obviously grown much more comfortable about leaning heavily on CJ. They'll do it again in 2011, too. Even if somebody comes in around the goal line, Johnson is clearly dynamic enough to register double-digit touchdowns and somewhere around 1,600 yards just on the ground. No worries here; he should be an easy top-three pick.
